It feels like it’s been ages since I logged in, but as the title suggests I have news— I am back in the burbs! My husband and I purchased our first home last year, and it has certainly been an adjustment for us in mostly good ways. We’ve learned so much about homeownership (and are continuing to learn and design and decorate), we’re in some new routines now that we are no longer living in the city, and we even adopted a dog! I’ve been spending my time at the farmers market, weeding the garden, organizing, decorating, and spending time with our new pup. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know her name is Tracer and we’re a bit obsessed with her. (If that wasn’t made clear by the creation of @tracertheeraser_). I was unexpectedly called back into the office after being fully remote for most of 2023 into spring of 2024 and I think that was the biggest adjustment of it all. While I hoped to have more time to create our nest, I spend a lot of my week commuting, or feeling the effects. In a lot of ways I am tired, but I am also happy. I feel incredibly grateful to have been able to purchase a home. It sometimes feels like we have a never ending to-do list, but I’d gladly take the to-do list over dealing with a NYC landlord.
While all of these changes have taken me away from blogging, and my presence on @acrueltyfreeme, it’s inspired other passions and hobbies that have either been dormant for while, or haven’t been nurtured in the ways I’ve wanted. As for dormant hobbies, I surpassed my Goodreads goal for the first time since I’ve had a Goodreads account. And I’ve always had an interest in interior design and decorating. I’m by no means a professional, and very much like my own persona, I sometimes still feel like I am finding my style, but it has been fun to have a space of my own to play. I’ve been toying with the idea of a re-brand for months, and the more I explore these new-found (or found again) hobbies, the more I want to branch my blog out… even if it’s just for me.
I’m excited to share more along the way, but for now I just wanted to say “hi!”.
In other news, we also took a little roadtrip down south this summer, check out my IG for some of our favorite dog friendly stops from along the way.
